Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 September 2026

This policy explains what personal data GentleInfusions.org processes, why, and what choices you have. We keep data collection to what is needed to run the site, send the updates you ask for, and understand which visits lead to book sales.

Who is responsible

GentleInfusions.org is operated by Gentle Infusions. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].

Your cookie choice

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept advertising and measurement cookies. Nothing in the categories below marked “only with your consent” sets cookies unless you click Accept. Rejecting has no effect on your access to the site.

Your choice is stored in your browser (local storage key gi_consent) so we don’t ask again on every page. You can change or withdraw it at any time: open cookie settings.

What we process and why

1. Website hosting and security

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it against abuse.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (operating a secure website).

2. Email updates

If you subscribe, your email address is stored with our email provider, Buttondown, and used only to notify you when the book or supporting material is revised or released. No promotions, and your address is never sold or shared for marketing. Every email contains an unsubscribe link.
Legal basis: your consent. Kept until: you unsubscribe.

3. Advertising and sales measurement (only with your consent)

  • Google Ads conversion tracking — records when a visit that came from one of our Google ads leads to a click on a store link or an email signup, so we can see which ads work. Google may set cookies such as _gcl_au (kept up to 90 days).
  • Google Tag Manager — a tool that loads the tags above and below. It does not set cookies itself.
  • Whop pixel — lets our store platform Whop attribute purchases to visits from this site.

We use Google Consent Mode. Until you accept, Google tags run in a restricted mode: they set no advertising cookies and send only limited, cookieless signals (for example that a page was viewed), without identifiers.
Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. Language selector

The Language button uses Google Translate. Nothing is loaded from Google until you click it. When you do, the translation tool is fetched from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address, and if you pick a language a cookie (googtrans) remembers it. While that cookie is set, the tool loads automatically on later pages so the translation continues. Translations are automatic; the English text is authoritative.
Legal basis: your request. The tool only loads when you ask for a translation.

5. Stores and external links

We do not sell anything on this site. Links to Amazon, Google Play, Whop, Lulu, Payhip, Leanpub and Ko-fi take you to those platforms, which process your data under their own privacy policies.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell, rent, or trade personal data
  • We don’t ask for or store health information
  • We don’t build profiles of individual visitors

Service providers and transfers

The providers named above (Cloudflare, Buttondown, Google, Whop) process data on our behalf or as independent controllers. Some of them may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, it relies on safeguards recognised under EU law, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already took place. Email [email protected] to exercise these rights.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in particular in the EU country where you live.

Changes

We update this policy when the site or the services we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
